Get Ready To Run: The Perham Summer Race Series

Summer means a lot of things in the Lakes area, and in recent years, running and road races have become huge. This summer will be filled with events, with the month of June loaded with races every weekend.

MATURE MILE & FAMILY 5K FUN RUN/WALK, June 6

Perham Living’s Mature Mile & Family 5K Fun Run/Walk is a community event to promote wellness.  The event is geared to be inclusive for all ages – one to 100 – and to encourage health and wellness at all stages and ages in life.

Mature Mile

The Mature Mile is an untimed event for those 60 years and older.  All are welcome to participate regardless of fitness level, including people with assistive devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.

The race route loops around the Perham Living campus and several additional community blocks, returning to the Perham Living Campus.

Pre-registration by May 25…………………………..$12.00

Family 5k Fun Run/Walk

The Family 5k Fun Run/Walk is great for friends and family members of all ages and fitness levels.  This is a timed event.

The Family 5k Fun Run/Walk incorporates the community’s new Wellness Trail and Wildflower Trail.  This race begins and ends at the Perham Living campus.

COLOR DASH 5K, June 13

St. Paul’s School is sponsoring their Annual Color Dash 5K in Perham on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Registration is: $40 individual; $35 per Team Member and $85 for Family.  The race starts at 10 a.m.

TURTLE FEST 5-10K, June 20

The 20th Annual Turtle Fest 5k & 10k will be Saturday, June 20. Both races will begin at 9 a.m. Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up will take place starting at 7:00 and closing at 8:45.

Pre-Registration is $20, with race-day registration $25. Pre-Registration must be paid for by June 18.

Free Kids Run

There will be a free kids fun run at 10:00 a.m. The course will go 2 loops around the soccer fields by the start/finish of the 5k and 10k. The run is approximately a half-mile. There are no awards or results. No registration is required other than filling out a release form on the day of the fun run.

AVERAGE JOE TRIATHLON, June 27

The 12th Annual Average Joe Triathalon will be Saturday, June 27 starting at 7 a.m. Proceeds benefit the youth of the Perham Area. The Jr. Joe mini-triathlon will be Friday night, June 26, at the PACC.

Course Description:

SWIM: 1/3 mile swim begins at Paul Miller Park on Little Pine Lake. Water depth is approximately 8 feet deep. Spectators can view the race from several locations on the Paul Miller Park shoreline. Life guards will be available and the course will be marked.

BIKE (certified helmets are required): Enjoy a 12 mile bike ride around Little Pine Lake, rural well marked roads with beautiful scenery and rolling hills.

RUN /WALK: The 4 mile run on paved bike trail bringing you back to Paul Miller Park. The course is relatively flat.

PERHAM HARRIER HALF MARATHON/5K, July 25

The 6th Annual Perham Harrier Half Marathon & 5k will be Saturday, July 25, starting at 7 a.m. Half Marathon Entry Fees are $35 for pre-registered runners, and $40 for race-day registration. 5k Entry Entry Fees are $20 for pre-registered runners, and $25 for race-day registration.

Pre-Registration should be turned in prior to July 23. Packet Pick-up & Pre-Registration will be offered on Friday, July 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the Perham Area Community Center (PACC) in Perham. Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up will take place starting at 5:45 p.m. and closing at 6:45 p.m. There will be a free kids fun run at 8 a.m. The course will go 2 loops around the soccer fields by the start/finish of the half marathon and 5k. The run is approximately a half mile. There are no awards or results. No registration is required other than filling out a release form on the day of the fun run.

Registration, Start, and Finish located at Arvig Park on Highway 51 by the softball, baseball, and soccer fields. Both the half marathon and 5k course is USATF certified and championship timing will be used for all participants. For the Half Marathon we will have AID stations with water and gatorade every 2 miles and 5 Porta Potties place at aid station on the course. We also include a gel packet in the half marathon race packets.
