Tuesday night was one of the most exciting matches in recent C-I volleyball history. The Rangers defeated conference foe Pequot Lakes, 3-2.
It was a highly anticipated early-season match-up for both teams. A warm gym and a raucous crowd only added to intense environment.
C-I won the 1st set 26-24 before dropping the next two. However, C-I rallied to take the next two sets from the Patriots to force a pivotal 5th set.
The Rangers took control early in the 5th and were able to hold on for the victory, 15-11. It was certainly a night that the C-I players and their coaching staff will remember for a long time.
"This was a huge win for our team and our program. I am extremely proud of how hard our girls have worked to get to this point and am excited to carry this momentum into our home tournament this weekend," Coach Hollenhorst said.
This was C-I first win over Pequot Lakes in volleyball since 2010.
The Rangers' record now stands at 8-1 on the season. Next up is the home Barb Neprud Tournament on Sept. 16th and a trip to face Pine River-Backus on Sept. 19th.
